faux sunday.

As you could partially see in my last post, I have two IKEA Lack shelves flanking both sides of my bed to serve as bedside tables. Problem is, I haven’t  gotten the look of them to my liking just yet. If I took a picture of what the shelf to my right looked like at this exact moment, you’d be embarrassed. Not me, you. Right now it’s covered in trash, dishes, a half empty salsa bottle, bag of chips, emory board, receipts, UPS notices, nail polish… all this in addition to the lamp, books and acrylic lipstick tray that’s supposed to be there. Simply put, it’s a mess. But I have a vision. A vision of a clean, beautifully adorned surface with matching lamps, worthy of Martha herself.

I already know I’ll be purchasing this MadeByGirl Love Poster in silver to frame and set on one of the shelves. I love the simplicity of the print and the silver is just right. Unless Jen comes out with a version in fuchsia metallic before I purchase, this is the one.

I also need a little tray or something to serve as a catchall for the random things that make their way to my bedside. Because they will make their way to my bedside, I’m not in denial about this. I think this mirrored tray from Pottery Barn or something similar will do fine in serving just that purpose.

And of course, I need some new lamps. Currently at my side is a handmade lamp crafted by my grandfather, which I love and have repainted several times but for my purposes I need a set. So I did some searching on Overstock.com, which is one of my favorite places to shop by the way *goes & renews Club O membership*, and found the below choices. I’m digging all three lamp sets (although white drum shades all around please) so I’ll probably purchase one of them sometime in the near future. I’m curious as to how the base of the first set is made and as to whether or not I’d be able to open it up and place something inside the glass. Marbles maybe?
